First Electric Operations
On August 17, 2001, the major portion of
our track extension project was declared
complete, when operation of electric cars
over the trackage commenced...
||A handful of lucky volunteers joined motorman
(and museum member #2) T. Prowell, as he
took the controls of Johnstown #311 (our
museum's first trolley) to ride an electric
car to the new end of line.
<< Johnstown #311 and riders at Black
Log Narrows for the first time.
|Soon after, open car #1875 made its first
run to the new end of track >>
<< The oldest operating car in our
collection, DC Transit snow sweeper #09,
passes the rock outcrop on the new trackage.
The sweeper is over 100 years old. We are
fairly certain the rocks are even older...
